There are many different grades of water used for natural health product (NHP) purposes. In general, the minimum quality of water that should be used for NHPs is purified water - that is, potable water, or drinking water, purified via distillation, deionization, reverse osmosis, membrane filtration, and/or other suitable processes to produce water of equivalent or higher quality, such as water for injection, sterile purified water, sterile water for injection, bacteriostatic water for injection, sterile water for irrigation, and sterile water for inhalation.
