Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxin (PCDD) and polychlorinated dibenzofuran (PCDF) impurities must not be present in quantities that exceed:i) 0,1 ng/g 2,3,7,8-tetra-chlorodibenzo-p-dioxin and 2,3,7,8-tetra-chlorodibenzofuran; and ii) 10 µg/g total other PCDD/PCDF impurities, with no individual impurity greater than 5 µg/g.The presence of this ingredient on the List of Prohibited and Restricted Cosmetic Ingredients (the Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist) indicates that there are potentially significant safety issues. This ingredient must be used in accordance with the restrictions set out on the Hotlist when included in natural health products, unless additional evidence for safety is submitted. For dental and buccal products, the following risk statements are required: "Avoid swallowing" and "The product is not to be used by children under the age of 12".
