Mimosa tenuiflora has been identified as an ingredient containing N,N-Dimethyltryptamine (DMT). DMT is listed in Schedule III of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). A controlled substance as set out in any of Schedules I to V of the CDSA is an excluded NHP substance as per Schedule 2 to the Natural Health Products Regulations. As per the CDSA, a reference to a controlled substance includes a reference to any substance that contains a controlled substance. The Natural and Non-prescription Health Products Directorate accepts Product Licence Applications for products containing Mimosa tenuiflora provided that the ingredient is free of DMT.
