Based on safety concerns, the daily oral exposure of carvacrol from the product must not exceed 0.23 mcg/kg bw/day. If applicants would like to use a marjoram essential oil with a higher content of carvacrol as a medicinal ingredient in their product, they must provide evidence to support its safe use.
