This ingredient must be used in accordance with the restrictions set out on the Hotlist when included as a non-medicinal ingredient in natural health products, unless additional evidence for safety is submitted. Maximum concentration permitted 0.1% for use as a preservative antimicrobial (i.e. benzalkonium chloride with chain lengths below or equal to 14 C). Maximum concentration permitted 3% in rinse-off hair care products (i.e. benzalkonium chloride with chain length equal or above 16 C). Risk statement " Avoid contact with eyes " required for all products containing more than 0.1% benzalkonium chloride.
